- The earfilter.org web site runs MediaWiki software, which permits users to create accounts on the site. The information comprising these accounts will be held on the servers running earfilter.org, which are based in the United States. This is necessary in order for user account functionality to work. User account functionality includes recording and publicly displaying any edits to the earfilter.org web site made by a logged-in user. Other aspects of user accounts created on the earfilter.org web site will also be publicly visible (talk pages, for instance), and some aspects of user accounts may persist even if the user account is deleted/deactivated, as a record of the actions taken by the user while the account was active.
- The MediaWiki software on which the earfilter.org web site runs will log, and may make public, a user's IP address if the user edits the earfilter.org web site. This is necessary for accountability, and to enable action to be taken against attempts to vandalise the earfilter.org web site.

The information generated by the cookies about usage of the earfilter.org web site (including visitors' IP addresses) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information for the purpose of compiling reports on the usage of the earfilter.org web site for use by the controllers of the earfilter.org web site. Google will transfer this information to third parties only if required to do so by law, and Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.
